China has been in the news lately with regards to lead paint product safety and food export and controls. I don't think that the average American can appreciate the massive job ahead of the newly appointed leader of the product safety team, Wu Yi.

China currently has more than 5,000 drugmakers and over 450,000 food manufacturing facilities. In the last three weeks Wu has closed 953 unlicensed food processing plants, closed over 2000 factories making fake goods and suspended the licenses of 1,200 drug and medical equipment companies.

I think Wu has the potential to deliver wide-spectrum changes to the food and product safety industry, even more effective in a country that has shown it will not hesitate to prosecute and even execute those who believe that they can hide behind the corporate veil while they knowingly deceive the International community.
